The Version 1 Ascaso Steel Duo PID is one of the earlier and cleaner industrial-style designs from the Spanish manufacturer Ascaso. Unlike the newer “Wood” editions, Version 1 features a minimalist stainless steel appearance with a plain metal plate steam control area instead of the walnut steam lever and wooden accents.
Built around Ascaso’s dual thermoblock system, the Steel Duo PID is designed for home baristas and specialty coffee enthusiasts who want fast heat-up times, simultaneous brewing and steaming, and highly stable temperature control in a compact footprint. The machine combines commercial-style features such as a 58 mm portafilter, programmable volumetric dosing, adjustable pre-infusion, and PID temperature management, while still remaining suitable for home kitchens and small studio coffee setups.
One of the biggest strengths of the Steel Duo PID is its workflow speed. Thanks to the independent thermoblocks, the machine heats up significantly faster than traditional dual boiler machines while still allowing espresso extraction and milk steaming at the same time.
